Dr. Tecoy Porter Sr is a nationally respected pastor, civil rights advocate, recording artist, and nonprofit leader whose life’s work sits at the powerful intersection of faith, justice, and community transformation. As the Senior Pastor of Genesis Church Sacramentoand President of the National Action Network Sacramento Chapter, he has become a trusted voice in both the sanctuary and the streets—mobilizing communities, mentoring young leaders, and shaping public policy with compassion and conviction.
With more than 25 years of ministry and advocacy experience, Dr. Porter has consistently championed causes that uplift underserved communities. Whether calling for educational equity, reforming broken justice systems, or cultivating the next generation of changemakers, he has earned a reputation as a bridge-builder between the sacred and the civic. His leadership was nationally recognized when he was awarded the prestigious Wyatt T. Walker Award—presented by Rev. Al Sharpton, Martin Luther King III, and Jachele Walker, granddaughter of the legendary civil rights strategist.
Dr. Porter is also a seasoned recording artist and songwriter, co-founder of Markee Wes Productions, and choir director of the award-winning Porter Brothers and Genesis Choir & the MLK Celebration Choir. His message is not just heard—it is experienced through both word and sound. His most recent live recording project, Songs From the Pastor’s Pen, blends gospel music with prophetic storytelling, bringing inspiration to platforms across the country.
In addition to his work in the church and the arts, Dr. Porter is deeply engaged in public service. He was appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom to the State Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, where he contributes strategic insight on issues affecting youth and families across California.

Dr. Porter is a devoted husband to Karlette Porter, his partner in both life and ministry, and together they have built a legacy of love, service, and faith. Their union of over three decades is marked by purpose and partnership, and they are the proud parents of two incredible sons and one amazing daughter.
